Committees

The committees aim, through periodic meetings, to develop topics of interest, exclusive conferences, updated information and discussion of relevant topics for the benefit of partner companies.

Enrollment requirements:

1. Be an active member.

2. Fill in the enrollment form.

Trade and Customs Facilitation

Discuss customs-related challenges, new regulations, and procedures. Propose simplification, modernization, and implementation of new export and import processes. Maintain relationships with authorities and submit proposals to facilitate procedures.

Aliens Committee

Promote and sustain foreign investment by facilitating the mobility of foreign personnel. Suggest hiring mechanisms for foreign workers that minimize fiscal risks or contingencies. Actively participate in the review, amendment, and implementation of immigration legislation.

Tax

Provide training, discuss tax reforms and audit procedures of the Tax Administration (SAT), and develop proposals that benefit the country. Offer tax advisory services to AmCham Guatemala members.

Labor Law and Occupational Health & Safety

Strengthen human resource management and industrial safety regulations within companies. Develop best practices, promote labor and safety reforms, with an emphasis on labor legislation and its implications.

Technology and Innovation

Promote the implementation of new technologies, focusing on supporting activities and initiatives within the technology sector, e-commerce, and emerging innovation practices.

Intellectual Property

Educate and train judges and government authorities. Promote the importance of analyzing bills and regulations related to intellectual property (IP) rights in Guatemala, as a means to foster investment and national development.

Investment and Foreign Trade

Analyze key variables to improve the business and investment climate, providing proposals for enhancement and implementation. The goal is to foster engagement with key stakeholders involved in policymaking and the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

CSR and Foundations

Educate, promote, and support the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Promote AmCham Guatemala’s Code of Ethics. Monitor proposals issued by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. Share AmCham’s know-how to strengthen local entrepreneurs.

Compliance

Develop and implement effective strategies that not only ensure regulatory compliance but also foster an organizational culture rooted in ethics, transparency, and integrity, actively engaging all members of AmCham Guatemala.

Sustainability and Environment

Promote and support the implementation of corporate social responsibility and sustainability programs in Guatemala, with the aim of contributing to the country's sustainable development.
